The planet of fantasy, creativity and illusion meets up with the point of destiny - here’s how to take advantage of this rare transit and turn points of confusion into a vision quest.

First, let’s introduce the major players:

Neptune - God of the Sea, the King of Cups, the Merman with his trident, Neptune is a slow moving planet that is now in the final degrees of Pisces (its home sign). Neptune rules our intuition, creativity, spirituality and deep emotional energy. Neptune is associated with our ability to connect with energies seen and unseen. This energy is deeply sensitive and can toe the line between fantasy and reality, resulting in illusion, delusion and escapism.

North Node - the point of destiny - This is the point at which eclipses occur and marks major life transformations. The north node is associated with what we are “hungry” for - our ambition and desire. It points us towards where we are headed and the goals or traits we aspire for.

Pisces - Pisces is a water sign and the very last sign on the zodiacal wheel. It is all about karma, releasing, and tuning in to the deeper aspects of life - religion, spirituality and connection to our sense of hope, faith, creativity and also the realm of fantasy - our dreams, visions and unconscious life.

The shadow side of Neptune presents as spiritual bypassing, illusion, confusion and lack of structure and boundaries. For example, if Neptune is transiting your 6th house of daily routines and health, it may feel difficult to stick to healthy habits and routines or to find stability in your day to day life. Neptune adds a lot of confusion to the part of our lives it transits if we are not willing to go with the flow and tap into its call for deeper meaning. This is not an area where we can rely on logic alone.

Another example would be Neptune transiting your first house of identity, ego and willpower. This might have you feeling like a shapeshifter, trying on different looks, styles, fashion and being really creative with how you present yourself to the world. But if you aren’t connecting to a deeper sense of self beyond the ego, you might feel like you’re in an identity crisis or feel the need to portray a false image of who you are.

Culminating a story that started in 2011

Neptune entered Pisces in 2011 - the beginning of a 14 year story around your spiritual and creative life. Soon, in March 2025, this story will be complete, but first, we get the chance to take advantage of this final (and rare) conjunction with the north node to finish it off.

Perhaps you find yourself being drawn back to spiritual practices you put down for awhile or became disillusioned with. Or your relationship to your creative life is shifting. Or maybe you feel called to connect a little deeper with your emotional life or fantasies that never came true and you wonder when you let life get in the way of your dreams.

Addiction or a healthy escape?

In today’s world, we all need a healthy does of fantasy and a rich creative life. I do believe that the more we invest in these areas, the bigger our resistance to a capitalistic and fear mongering society.

And I admit it’s tempting at this moment to put my head in the sand and say “fuck politics” or ignore my bank account and relationship issues. In my field, I see a lot of spiritual bypassing, sending “love and light” and good vibes only, ignoring the very real issues that plague us as a human family. On the other side, I also think the amount of responsibility we (as individuals) assume around major issues like war and climate change are also delusional. Or that “taking a stance” via a social media post is doing anything other than yelling into the void. It’s this swinging from extremes - becoming entrenched and overwhelmed by chaotic news cycles, then needing to “zone out” and cope with addictive escapism like shopping, scrolling, drug / substance abuse - which as we know, over time, leads to major issues.

So, how to we find the balance between delusion / responsibility ?

As children we are told to get “real” jobs and cut off our creative impulses, to trade them in for good grades and careers and logical, practical, mundane shit that will ensure our stability in life. I think this is why we are often drawn to the shadow side of Neptune, illusion, addiction, escapism and disassociation - to try to cope with a world that tells us to stop daydreaming and “get real”.

On top of that, we are living in a time where our attention is being used against us. The more invested we become in following the news and staying informed and doing all the things, the more scared, angry and hopeless we feel.

Which is why I feel it is SO SO important to head the lessons of Neptune in Pisces - to lean into a rich creative and spiritual life, because no one can control our attention if we don’t give it away. We are all creative beings with an infinite well of passion and inspiration around us. When we disconnect from all the noise and tune into our intuition, it will lead us towards what our soul desires. Then we become attuned to the Piscean energy and do real healing work in the world. You don’t have to save the world or our democracy if your true gifts are to be a present and emotionally mature parent, or to create beautiful floral arrangements, or to provide care as manager, teacher or partner. We are all healers in our own right, and this transit helps to point us toward that area so we can do what we are meant to do, not what we are “supposed to do”.

From Delulu to Enlightenment

On February 7th, Neptune conjoins the North Node - a harmonious aspect that will highlight these themes in our lives. This is such a great time to reflect on the lessons we’ve learned with Neptune in Pisces, and what we might still be hungry for in terms of our spiritual and creative life.

For me, Neptune in Pisces moved into my 6th house of work and daily life in 2011, during which time I was starting to work as a yoga teacher, and really started deep diving into some intense healing and spiritual practices. I went to therapy, trained as a yoga teacher, reiki master, tarot reader, astrologer, sound healer and built a business around sharing these practices. And on the flip side - it has been a struggle for me to find a healthy work/ life balance! Incorporating the boundaries around my time, energy and resources that I need to feel good has been a lesson I’ve had to learn over and over again! But I do find that when I dip too far into the mundane (see 2024 when I worked a finance job), I feel really burnout and unhappy! And if I don’t structure my days, I will waste a ton of time scrolling too much or reading too much about astrology and not get any actual work done. After many years, I am finally feeling more balanced in how to structure my time, but also nurture my creative and spiritual life as well. And I am also feeling called to nurture my creative life on a deeper level and explore new aspects of my work, and how I want to share it.

So, what, exactly, does it mean to live a fantasy? How can we possibly find clarity in a world that’s pumping out disinformation on the regular? And what can we do to tune into our own psychic and intuitive gifts? Below, I share rituals and reflections on this Neptunian energy, including its archetypal influence and its placement in your unique birth chart.
