Hello and Full Moon Blessings! The September full moon is known as the corn moon, as we move into harvest time and the fall equinox. The last sign of the zodiac, Pisces is said to hold the wisdom of the all signs that precede it. A full moon in Pisces has the potential for the completion of a cycle. This water energy is adaptable, emotional and soulful - it carries deep soul lessons and emphasizes the need to commit to our dreams. These next few days and weeks invite us to connect with our dreams, intuition and deep soul desires.
As the ruler of Pisces, Neptune is a planet that is said to dissolve boundaries, allowing us to connect more deeply to our psychic wisdom and that which lies beyond the veil. As a healer who practices divination, one might think this is an easy part of my life, but it’s hard for me to trust my own psychic wisdom (especially when it comes to myself) without my ego getting involved.
When I channel reiki, I open myself up to receive and be a conduit for universal energy, I feel it strongly in my body, and I know exactly how to move and what to do. Yet, much of the time, my mind wants to make sense of it all. It wants to tell stories about what’s happening, to apply my own projections onto the session about how and why and what needs to happen next.
The best sessions happen when I humbly put all that aside and just let it flow. The voice never really goes away, but quiets down. I used to go into my reiki sessions ready to “do the work” for my client, now I stand back and wait and listen and let them come to me. I used to think I needed to give them a perfect prescription of spiritual tools so they could heal.
What I realized, over time, is that I was doing them a disservice. That I was crossing their boundary and not trusting them to do their own work. I wanted to do it all for them and be seen as an expert in my field. I wasn’t trusting them enough, I wasn’t trusting myself enough.
I’m not sure if that voice will ever go away that wants to know it all, to have all the answers, to be seen as good. But I can see now that my job is not to carry the weight of healing my clients, but to meet them where they are at, as equals and hold space for what they bring into the room. Like the two fish swimming together, we do a dance of reciprocity and both receive the healing. When I can stand in my boundaries and open to receive at the same time, magic happens.
The Gift + Intuition
In the Prisma Visions Tarot, creator James Eades adds one extra card in the Major Arcana, this is not part of the traditional tarot, which is why it has no number at the top. In the guide book he states, “After slogging your way through murky waters, sometimes a passage can appear out of nowhere. This sudden solution is a gift from the universe; one not to be taken lightly.”
The image of two fish in the murky water are quite similar to the symbol of Pisces, where the moon is full right now. This full moon may illuminate an idea or a path forward we couldn’t see before. The Intuition card warns that we must get quiet enough to listen and trust our instincts.
Pisces connects us deeply to our own feelings, intuition and spiritual practices. There will be abundant gifts from within and perhaps externally when we follow our own internal compass.
